APPS: MegaCalc

A friend of mine (Rochelle) introduced me to a nifty and eye candy calculator (that is not as bloated as my previous powerOne Personal) - MegaCalc. I find the buttons easy to tap with my finger (even in Scientific Calc Mode). A must have, I should say. ;-)

Here's a brief description of the app:
MegaCalc is a powerful calculator that includes practically all the basic calculation modules for every day use. The variety of functions enables you to perform nearly all calculations (mathematical, financial, conversion, credit, etc.), which you may need in your day-to-day activity. Guarantee of absolute mobility, user-friendly interface, easy to use make MegaCalc program your constant mobile assistant.

APPS: Mundu Messenger

My VeriChat finally meet its match! Take a look at the features and product description of The Mundu Messenger (below). The Mundo Messenger was developed by an Indian company called Geodesic Information Systems Limited. Is "Mundu" also "mundo" (a familiar tagalog word which means "world")? Wild guessing: One of the developers might be a Filipino after all. Hmmmnn makes sense. ;-)

Product Description:
The Mundu Messenger is an "Instant Messaging" tool that lets users communicate with one another instantly and seamlessly communicate across other major instant messaging services including AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo. It combines valuable features viz. THOUGHT: How I became a non-Jollibee person?

Time for a flashback. Late night last September (2003), after leaving the office I decided to dropby Jollibee Pioneer Centre branch (in Pasig) to have my dinner. I ordered one Crispy Hot Fried Chicken meal. The counter staff told me if I'm will to wait for 15 minutes (wow! ordinarily its only around 5 to 10 minutes). Ok (no choice), so I said yes (since I'm craving for one). Fifteen minutes have passed, my meal haven't arrived yet. I patiently wait for the food (eventhough my stomach could no longer take the hunger). Customers walk in and out of the door, my order still not in sight. I asked the staff (who's mopping the floor at that time) to follow-up on my order. Another 15 minutes have passed, no sign of Crispy Hot Fried Chicken in sight. I began to complain to the manager about the undelivered order. The manager told me that it would normally take 50 minutes to prepare. What?! Is this a fastfood restaurant? Jollibee happens to be the largest fastfood chain in the Philippines. I didn't even have to finish my meal (out of dissatisfaction)! I refuse to eat any Jollibee product since then.

APPS: daMemoPad

I just recently realized how easy it is to stick and unstick notes with your Palm using daMemoPad. Its my current favorite DA (Desk Accessory) applet. I use it when I need to transfer or jot down something from one page to the other. I know a Copy and Paste would do, but this applet could save you a step or two in the transferring process.

daMemoPad is basically a mini pop-up version of the built-in Memo Pad (similar to Benc's Pop-up Notes). If say you're online with Web Pro and you've come across an interesting quote from the web, you just simply highlight the quote and invoke daMemoPad (using the McPhling launcher). Alas! your highlighted quote is already a Memo Pad entry. Afterwards, if you decided to email the quote to your friend, just go to your email app, invoke daMemopad and tap the [i] button (shortcut for insert) and it will automatically paste itself to the email. A nice nifty little applet with unlimited use. Its OS 5 compatible and its FREE!

NOTE: For OS 5 devices, you need to install McPhling or DA Launcher 5.

THOUGHT: Mc Donald's iPod Ad Wannabe

I was amazed when I dropped by Mc Donald's PowerPlant Mall at Rockwell yesterday. While I was lining up for my Big Mac meal, I was greeted by this familiar promo ad. Mc Donald's offering cheap personal radio receivers for only P59!* Well, I didn't get one. Who needs it when you got an iPod.

What's with the ad? Its basically iPod inspired! Uhm, Steve are you taking a look at this? :-D

*with purchase of any Mc Donald's meal.
