MOVIE: SpiderMan 2

Woohoo! I finally watched the movie. So much fun that I want to see it again in DVD! :-D

Yeah I was a day late to catch the opening of SpiderMan 2, but I was able to witness the phenom on Manila's newest theater - The Shang CinePlex cinemas. Man, I got the best seat (K13) in the house! (See pic below)

The opening credits of the movie are pretty similar to the previous one, but with some unique changes. These are mostly watercolor paintings ala Alex Ross (D.C.'s Kingdom Come). I also noticed that the screen story was written by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (Smallville TV Series) - that explains the Smallville + Dawson's Creek edge to the story (but I enjoyed it nonetheless). ;-D This time its more humanhero than superhero. More heart than web slinging and fun. A balance between action, thrill, suspense and drama - not to mention the special effects were way better than the previous. After all, Spidey is only human and a kid. I can safely say that Sam Raimi did kick some butt this time! Definitely, its one movie that you wouldn't want to miss! (especially towards the end) Spoilers that hint for another sequel have been established in '2' and I bet I would enjoy '3' even more. Ohhh! Can't hardly wait! :-D

Oh, and this is my favorite part of the movie...

THOUGHT: My Vacation Finally Starts

Home at last! Today begins my vacation back in my hometown -
Iloilo. Great place to be (both food and sights)! My home
sweet home. Been stressed from work, from life lately... Its time to relax
and reminisce. My trip back home is a 45 minute plane ride from the busy
life of Metro Manila to a more laid back life of Iloilo. I'll be posting
some pics (at my photoblog) in the days to come.

BTW, just finished a hearty delicious dinner over at Ocean City Restaurant.
Great food! ;-)

MOVIE: Little Black Book

In "Little Black Book," Stacy Holt (Brittany Murphy), an associate producer for daytime talk show hostess Kippie Kann (Kathy Bates), is frustrated when her boyfriend Derek (Ron Livingston) refuses to discuss his past relationships. With the encouragement of co-worker Barb (Holly Hunter), she delves into his palmOne(TM) handheld to learn about his ex-girlfriends. The digital footprints of past and present romances are kept on a Tungsten(TM) C handheld from palmOne. This little black book, used for work and play, is the technology star of the film.

PREVIEW: The 4G iPod

To be announced this Monday (July 19, 2004), Steve Jobs is again on the cover of Newsweek. Don't know who leaked it, but it looks nice and zen as the previous iPods. Way to go Apple! :-)

THOUGHT: All About Treo 600

I don't like the Treo 600. I mean what's to like about it? I even question why Steve Jobs prefer to use it? In the times where high-res displays are already standards (thanks to Sony), why did they (Jeff Hawkins and company) even bother to come out with a 160x160 display. What were they thinking? And how about bluetooth? Every decent geek phone comes with one. Why isn't there any on the Treo?

Dumb idea. Yeah, its a dumb idea until the company issued me a Treo 600 demo unit. After the issuance last Wednesday, I hardly touched my trusty Tungsten T anymore (unless there's an expense to track or an ebook / news clipping to read). Dumb idea indeed, huh? This Treo packed more brains than I've ever imagined. Like what is it not to like about the integration of the backlit QWERTY keyboard? How about the fully functional Message program (that let's you have chat SMS threads while you send txt messages back and forth). Not to mention the predictive apostrophies (like converting "dont" to "don't" on the fly). Heck you don't even need bluetooth on this thing (unless you're so crazy about headsets). Having a converge device is truly a wonderful experience, but this remains to be seen (on how long could I hold on to this smartphone).

What's not to like about the Treo? Only the screen, which brings me back why I wasn't attracted to the Treo 600 (in the first place). The rest should explain why I carry it around and using it to compose this thought. ;-)
