THOUGHT: Apple Moving To Intel

What do you get from the WWDC 2005? The big news: Hell froze over ...again. Apple is ready to migrate to the Intel family of processors. What does this mean for Apple? More products. More market share. More profit. Why?

More products. With the vast roadmap of Intel, this will give Apple the flexibility to properly plan their products down the line. This goes the same way of saying there will be less stock shortages in the future. With Intel, Apple can now concentrate on making their products better (which they do best).

More market share. By entering the x86 platform, Apple has now the capability to access far more parts suppliers that would bring down the manufacturing cost significantly. With lower priced computers, Apple would be able to reach beyond the Mac mini market. This would eventually open up doors for Apple to sell their OS to any Intel enabled PC. Let's see how this goes.

More profit. With lesser cost and more volume, this automatically translates to more profit. As simple as that. -.^

For Microsoft, the plot thickens. "Ladies and Gentlemen, meet MacIntel."

THOUGHT: Being Palmless

Ladies and Gentlemen, my over-six month old Tungsten C refused to connect to any AP. I've already updated the firmware, done a hard reset, and still no can do. I'll try to call palmOne this Monday, but being "palmless" is getting me mentally/psychologically ill. URRRGGGHHHH!!! >.<

W

UPDATE: I've got my replacement unit right after I called palmOne! Isn't it amazing? There are readilly available replacement units over at the palmOne Store (inside Digital Exchange Glorietta 3 formerly Street Life). Now, I'm back and kicking (though I had a hard time syncing back my data from the way it used to be). Next on my agenda, the long-awaited review of Village Sim. -.^

THOUGHT: Dilbert's Principle

"Champ firms follow the Dilbert's principle that says that the easiest way to remove the idiot from every day's business is to promote him to a manager's position. Some pessimists believe that most of the firms really work by that principle, but let's be idealists and believe that it isn't so until proved differently."

I laughed my heads out! You can get your dose here. Championship! ^_^

THOUGHT: More Podcasting

Talking about podcasting, here's two of my favorite podcast channels: Leo Laporte's KFI Airchecks and 1SRC Podcasts (by Jeff Kirvin).

THOUGHT: iHome

Gizmodo has just reported some leaked photos from MacWorld SF 2005 and looks like a legit photo of the iHome (a.k.a. the headless Mac). Don't know if it is real, but its more to me like an Apple version of the Windows Media Center. The design looks so generic (like a crossover between a Tivo and that of Dell's).

Honestly, I would like to have one of those media centers at my own home (minus the glitch). Who knows? This might be the answered prayer, but from the looks of it - there are no AV ports.

UPDATE: This product is just a hoax. The guys from Cupertino have again done a great job in hiding the new stuff. Visit Apple website for the new announcements.
